Briefly introduce yourself and tell why you wanted to learn Spanish.
My name is Donna, I am 21 years old and I study Commercial Economics. I am a fitness fanatic and I love language. I started learning Spanish for a number of reasons, my partner's mother tongue is Spanish, I often visit Spain and I had an internship in Valencia and of course I wanted to be well prepared!
What courses have you taken?
It's been a while but if I remember correctly, I took intermedio I first and then intermedio II. I got in on intermedio I since I already had some knowledge of the Spanish language and the level actually matched perfectly.
How did you find Academia el Sur?
Academia el Sur was recommended to me by a (former) colleague of mine, when I looked at the website I was immediately sold and didn't look any further.
What was your experience like at Academia el Sur?
My experience was tremendously good. Both groups I was in were very fun and sociable. The teachers in Academia el Sur are all native speakers and not only explain the grammar but also take you into Spanish culture. The teachers who taught me were very nice and especially very patient. They also make sure that all the students get to speak, which was very nice for me because in the beginning I was a little afraid to speak. The lessons had a lot of variety, every lesson had an element of speaking, listening and grammar. What I also liked was that I could have a cup of tea or coffee and a chat with Pere before class.
Did you really get anything out of this course?
I have not regretted the course for a moment, first of all because the lessons were just really fun and informative. But most of all it helped me to get over my fear and shame of my speaking skills. From the moment I arrived in Spain I dared to speak Spanish right away and this has given me such an advantage. Most people hide behind English but to learn Spanish well you have to practice when you can! The course at Academia el Sur has given me enough confidence to do just that 🙂
